Old, but well maintained.
The rooms are small cabin style with central heat and air conditioning.
The location is great for outdoor activities.
This place is run by a nice couple, but what a dump! It doesn't rate one star. The room, which supposedly sleeps three reeked of cigarette smoke. It was so bad we didn't unpack our clothes. It had one single bed and one double squeezed into a minuscule space. The sagging "double" bed was so short my husband had to lie across it diagonally, leaving no space for me. The shower consisted of a third-world style drain in the floor, and the bathroom was too small to turn around it. It was awful and we hardly slept.
It is located in the middle of nowhere. Not much in walking distance.
Clean and inexpensive is what matters to me and this is what the Forest Inn is.
There is no wifi no cable no lce the bed as hard as a rook the rooms are tiny the worst motel I ever stayed at don't go hear
Clean and inexpensive, friendly and accommodating management. Beautiful surrounding scenery. Great outdoor activities. And close to state park for natural and fun activities in the great outdoors. 250..00 per nite been there and done that, People follow the rules and smoke out of the rooms, if not the management addressed this and taken care of. Great dinner down the road known for their homemade pies and cakes. Also , flea market across from dinner every weekend until Oct with really good finds....
We went as a group of five to a horse show @ Sussex County Fairgrounds and stayed for two nights. Why the one star rating? Where to begin? Well, as I said, we were a group of five. When I made the reservation, I was VERY CLEAR that I wanted two rooms: a room for four people and another for just one person. It should have been a tip off when she said, "Well, we'll only charge you for one of the beds in that room then." HUH!?! Charge by the bed? Does that mean they only clean the one bed? ICK! Anyway, back to the story. I call back after making the reservation to be sure that the room is non-smoking. "All our rooms are non-smoking." We arrive @ 8pm exhausted and try to find the older woman who runs the place. That is a whole other story, which I won't cover here. As I register, I ask if we can see the rooms. "You are going to take them, right?" The room for 4 has a SMALL queen and a twin bed in it. WHAT? "Oh, no, I didn't say that there were two queens. The rooms are too small to fit even two double beds." (Which is completely true.) The room for one person had a double and a twin and a STRONG SMELL OF CIGARETTE SMOKE as you walked in the door which , of course we could all smell, but the owners could not. We knew we didn't have other choices locally, so we decided to have an "adventure." The bathroom window wouldn't stay up on its own, so we stuck the a plastic tray in it to keep it open to air out cigarette smoke and were accused of stealing it. REALLY!?! The beds ran the gamut, none comfortable, but ranged from saggy to plywood with 3" foam on top. Sheets were clean. Bathroom was so small I bumped my head on the door when finished using the toilet. The hot shower water was finicky. The cigarette smoke, we found, was leaking through the door between our room and the one adjacent (could have been a combo room, but no thanks). Walls were so thin that we could clearly hear the arguments between the man and woman in that room, which happened 2-4am BOTH NIGHTS. Sleep much? We didn't. So, if you are looking for an adventure, have at it. We will NEVER be going back.
The bed was firm, the way I like my bed.
I will come back.
